Why Is a Woxna Saw More Expensive Than the Competition - And Is It Worth It?

At first glance, you might wonder why a Woxna saw costs more than many other folding saws on the market. After all, a saw is just a saw, right? Not quite. Let’s break down what makes a Woxna different and why it’s an investment worth considering.
1. Thoughtful Sourcing and Local Production
Producing a high-quality outdoor tool in Sweden is not cheap. From the very beginning, we made the decision to manufacture our saws locally rather than outsourcing to lower-cost factories abroad. This means higher labor costs but also ensures that every saw meets our strict quality standards and that production is done ethically. We have also sourced all of our materials as thoughtfully as possible, prioritizing local and sustainable options whenever we could - something that is both rewarding and incredibly challenging for a small company like ours.
2. Premium Materials for Unmatched Performance
The backbone of any tool is the material it’s made from, and this is where Woxna refuses to cut corners. Our stainless steel saw blades are crafted from 10C28Mo stainless steel, a high-end alloy commonly used in premium knives. This steel offers superior edge retention, corrosion resistance, and durability - meaning your Woxna saw stays sharp longer, resists rust, and performs in the harshest conditions.
We also offer a carbon steel version, which is a cheaper material to start with and an excellent choice for those who prefer a traditional, ultra-sharp cutting edge. However carbon steel requires more maintenance to prevent rust, and what is driving the production cost of this blade is the four metal pieces that we send for black oxidation to make sure the blade will last you longer.
3. Small-Batch Production and the Challenge of Scale
We are not a massive corporation churning out thousands of units at a time. Every Woxna saw is produced in small batches, which allows us to maintain quality but also means our production costs are significantly higher. Finding suppliers who are willing to work with our lower production volumes has been incredibly difficult - most manufacturers prefer high-volume orders to make their processes more efficient. As a result, prices have been high for every component we use, from the steel to the precision-machined wooden handles. When you buy a Woxna, you’re supporting a product that was made with care, not mass production.
Is It Worth the Money?
There are certainly cheaper options. But if you want a saw that will:
- Stay sharper longer
- Cut more efficiently with less effort
- Handle extreme weather conditions without rusting
- Last for years, maybe generations
- Be a reliable tool for serious outdoor enthusiasts, professionals, and survivalists
Then the answer is simple: a Woxna saw is worth every penny.
We know we’re a small company, and we know that means our costs are higher than larger competitors who can produce at massive scale. But what we offer is something different - a saw that is designed, sourced, and built with intention. And in a world where so many products are built to be disposable, we think that’s something worth standing behind.
