Our Story
Timeless Design from the Shores of the Voxna River
Woxna was founded in Sweden by the shores of the Voxna River. Here, we make premium saws and outdoor gear inspired by Scandinavian traditions, craftsmanship, and nature. Our aim is to make timeless, sustainable products for everyone who loves life among the trees and thrives around the campfire.
Founded by Elma and Ulf
Sometimes, the most extraordinary things come from unexpected encounters, and Woxna is one of them. Woxna was born after a series of chance meetings between its founders, Elma and Ulf. Ulf, a second-generation saw manufacturer with the calm, grounded demeanor typical of Northern Sweden, teamed up with Elma, whose energetic, business-driven mindset and Southern European flair brought a dynamic contrast to the mix. It wasn’t the most obvious pairing, but when their paths crossed, they both saw a unique opportunity to create something new and exciting.
How the idea of Woxna started - A word from Elma
It got me thinking—why wasn’t there a foldable saw that matched the beauty and craftsmanship of those classic tools, with the kind of steel you’d find in a well-made bushcraft knife? After digging around, I couldn’t find anything that captured the traditional look I envisioned—beautiful wooden handles paired with blade steel you'd trust your life with in the wilderness.
Having worked with premium hand tools before, I felt we could create a saw that not only looked great but performed even better. But as I shared this vision with Ulf, I realized why others weren’t already doing it—making a durable, stainless-steel saw with knife-grade steel wasn't simple. Finding a steel that was tough enough for serious outdoor work but not brittle, and that manufacturers could actually work with, turned into a months-long journey.
Since many high-end bushcraft knives use 12C28 or 14C27 stainless steel, we started experimenting with those options in both pre-hardened and raw forms, with hardening the full blades and trying to harden just the teeth without getting close to the performance level we were looking for. Being a startup, finding options in small enough batches that we could afford to buy and waiting for each to arrive was a frustrating journey. After many discussions with the product experts at Alleima we started discussing a new option, a 10C28Mo2 stainless steel which is usually found in razor blades and kitchen knives but is not very common in the bushcraft products. And how happy were we when it ended up being a great option, a perfect balance of tough while being able to hold an edge.
During our search for the perfect stainless steel quality, it became apparent that it wouldn’t surpass a traditional high carbon steel in every way, just like with knives there would still be some people who would prefer traditional high carbon blades for some applications. That’s how we ended up with two versions: one in stainless steel for those who love the corrosion resistance and uniqueness of a premium stainless steel, and another with a high-carbon steel for those who appreciate the classic, time-tested option.
We're excited to share these saws with you. Whether you’re deep in the backcountry or just enjoying a day in the woods, we think you’ll love them as much as we do.

The Voxna River and the Pines
The Woxna river – or ån, as its simply called locally – runs through Hälsingland in the middle of Sweden, from the mountains in the west and down towards the sea. It meanders freely through a landscape of granite, mires and pine trees – and these later ended up being the inspiration for our logotype. The river is a very prominent feature in the countryside surrounding our factory, so it felt natural to borrow our name from it. While poring over old military maps of the region, our marketing guy Daniel stumbled upon an older spelling with a W instead of a V. We all liked the touch of history and tradition, so we went ahead and named our newly formed company Woxna.
