Made in sweden
We are very happy and proud to be able to produce our saws in Sweden. They are manufactured in Hälsingland, a rural region in what you perhaps could call the Swedish rust belt. Here, you’ll find a long-standing tradition of saw, axe and knife making and we are fortunate to have a factory that has been in our co-founder’s family for generations, one of the few still standing strong in this region.
When we say Made in Sweden, we really mean it. Our foldable saws are not just assembled here, the blades and the metal interior of the handles are made from scratch here, the wooden handles are milled in Sweden, the leather chord is made from Swedish hides and the leather is tanned and cut in Sweden. The screws and buttons are currently sourced outside Europe. We’d love to reduce the long transports and make it easier to audit our suppliers, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us if you know of any good producers closer to Sweden.
You can find more details about our sourcing on our sustainability page.
Why We Care for Swedish Production
Why do we think this is so important? First and foremost, it’s about quality and sustainability. We have a long tradition and great know-how here in Sweden when it comes to crafting high-quality tools in steel. Sweden also has very strict laws and regulations regarding environmental concerns, working conditions and animal welfare so here we have an excellent baseline to start from when it comes to sustainability. And with local production it is far easier to raise the bar and make sure that everything is done according to our standards, both when it comes to quality and sustainability.
“For me there’s also something else about working with local production. I lived in the US for six years where they take a lot of pride in everything“made in the USA”. After having moved back home to Sweden and having started Woxna I also take great pride in being able to support jobs and people in rural areas of Sweden. It’s also great to be able to show how thoughtful sourcing and production can continue our long traditions of toolmaking and make it an important part of our future as well.”
