Most saws are thrown away once they become dull or neglected. We believe differently.
A well made tool can follow its owner for many years, but maintenance takes patience. Sharpening a saw is careful work, done tooth by tooth, stroke by stroke. Time consuming, perhaps, but rarely wasted.
For best results, fasten the saw blade securely before sharpening. This allows you to work more freely and use long, controlled strokes while filing between each tooth.
Our saw teeth are ground in three phases. In many cases, the top surface dulls first, meaning a light sharpening there may be enough before working on the two side angles.
Designed for those who prefer maintaining their tools rather than replacing them.
How to Sharpen the Saw Teeth
For optimal results, we recommend following the markings shown in the diagram when filing:
Professional Sharpening: Begin by filing along the sides of the teeth (surface 1). Then, finish by sharpening the top of the teeth (surface 2). File along the angle several times to achieve the best edge.
Basic Maintenance: For standard maintenance, it is generally sufficient to only sharpen the top of the teeth (surface 2).
